 Reviews : Modeled After Trouble

Wow! Great follow up to Chasing After Trouble

T.M. DeLawrence has done it again! I started reading this and couldn't put it down. It seems like Derek Chase is up to his eyeballs in trouble and yet he still finds the time to fall in love. I can see the characters becoming more alive in this book than the first. I have to say Modeled After Trouble is filled with so many twist and turns, plots and subplots, that when you think the ride is finally over, T.M. DeLawrence leaves the reader with a jaw dropping ending. Truly a rollercoaster ride from beginning to end. I can't wait to read the third book!

I enjoyed reading about Derek Chase getting himself in and out of trouble (with women, and the law) as he works on his first case, the death of his employer Tessa Taylor. There are many subplots that arise through the book that reveals that this isn't the last Derek Chase adventure! I definitely enjoyed the description of the Virginia beach landscape, It really gives the book a more authentic feel. Anyone who resides or has spent anytime in Virginia beach will really get pulled into book. I cant wait to see what happens to our hero next!

I enjoyed this book immensely. It grabbed my attention early on and held it threw the whole book. Derek Chase could be the next 'Alex Cross' character for the years to come. The story is written in such a way that you feel like you know the characters and are there with them in the room. I would highly recommend this book for those of you who are looking for a fun and intriguing read by a great new talented author. I can't wait to followed Derek Chase on his next adventure and see if he resolves things in his personal life.

Under gunned at first but persistence wins!

Derek Chase always seems two steps behind. He's an ex-rookie cop and a rookie PI. But he persists because he believes in the truth. The obstacles are many, both in family history and with the mystery he's on the trail of (those extra set of tire tracks). Like the Da Vinci Code, Derek firts with disaster and personal baggage on every page.

Chasing After Trouble

Derek Chase is an ex-cop turned private investigator given a second chance by the law firm, Garrett and Taylor. As it turns out, his first assignment is to bring Tessa Taylor's killer to justice. As his investigation unfolds, he is thrust into a web of police corruption and cover-ups. He is forced to confront his past and is surprised at what he finds. Overall, I enjoyed Chasing After Trouble by T.M. DeLawrence. The twists toward the end of the book were unexpected and created a solid conclusion. I would like to see the main character, Derek Chase, have to work harder during his investigations. It seemed to me that he found the clues he needed easily, always made the right decision and always had the perfect line. He was too perfect, too good. It would have been easier for me to embrace the character and really cheer him on if he had some flaws. This, I believe, did not detract from the story on the broader level. T.M. DeLawrence crafted a quality story that works and created a wide range of characters. I would strongly recommend T.M. DeLawrence to others who enjoy murder mysteries.
