Tory Lynn's
road to success

My journey as a writer...

I've wanted to be an author for as long as I could remember.  When I was growing up, people used to ask me what I wanted to do, and I told them I wanted to be an author.  I grew up writing short stories and poetry.  At the time, it was a way of expressing my feelings --writing just felt right.  I have always loved romance and have wanted to write in that genre forever.  Someday I may venture in other areas, but not now.  I've decided to write under the pen name, "Tory Lynn".  I like the idea of being a little mysterious.

My family...

I met and married my husband of over twenty years in California, where we lived and worked.  We have a beautiful daughter who is growing up too fast.  Just recently, we made the decision to sell everything in California and move to Utah in hopes to slow down and enjoy life a little more.  So far the move has been everything we had hoped it would be and more.  Starting over is scary, but it's something I'd do over again if given the chance, because if I get to spend more time with my family it is worth it.  As my family and friends would say, "What a great adventure"!  I look at it, just like that.  My husband, daughter and I are very thankful for this opportunity, and it's something we don't ever want to take for granted.

Committing myself...

I began writing seriously on my book about a year ago.  Up until then, I had to bide my time between work and family.  I didn't have a lot of time for my book, even though I've worked on it for years.  When I finally was finished with the story, I began to edit in earnist.   When my husband bought me a lap top computer,  as a present, I was so excited.  I was able to work on my book whenever I wanted.  I even took it to work and wrote in the parking lot at lunch time.  I no longer had to wait in line at home to use the computer, I had one of my own!

The Rewards...

I finally finsihed the book and was happy with the finished product.  It was then I began to think about publishing the book.  It was a scary thought, but I thought to myself, "What are you afraid of?  You've worked long and hard, and you deserve to let someone read your work". Well, I did, and I wasn't disappointed.  It didn't matter if anyone liked my story or not because it was an accomplishment I worked long and hard for.

Accomplishments

In August 2005 I recieved my congradulatory letter from Publish America, saying that they wanted to publish my book, "My Charming Protector".

July 7, 2006 was my release date, talk about excitement.

Additional Information

I am currently working on three other books and hope to be able to get them published someday. I am also contemplating writing short stories for the amazon shorts program.  I'll keep you updated on that little venture as I write more stories.
