Time Saving Tips

Here's a suggestion that can make using the board a lot faster and easier, even if you aren't having any problems.

Many people prefer to open links such as these threads in separate windows because of the convenience. There are many less clicks or keystrokes necessary, and much less waiting. After you're done reading a thread, you can simply close the window; there's no need to go back at all.

It's much faster also because you don't have to wait for the window to finish loading. You can open all the windows you want quickly, even 10 or 20 or more, and then begin reading them, one at a time. As you're reading the first one, the others are loading in the background, saving you lots of time going back and forth, and waiting for each one to load.

In Opera there's even a "finished loading" indicator, so you can open literally dozens of windows, and then actually select a window to read that you know has finished loading, instead of guessing. But even guessing's faster than going back and forth.

In Microsoft Explorer:

  • RightClick on message thread with Red Dot
  • Press or Click N (to open it in a new window)
  • Alt-Tab (to return to original red-dotted window)
  • Repeat

In Opera (avail free from opera.com)
(set browser to open new links internally or externally)

  • Control-Shift Click on all message threads with red dots
(this opens them all in the background)
