                             In verse

The twin tower tragedy on 9/11 not only changed the course of contemporary history, depriving millions of people of their independence in Iraq and Afghanistan,...Samia Muqueem, a graphic artist, uses her poetry to paint colour into life as it happens. Covering a wide spectrum, her poetry puts into words her way of looking at the world — there are confessions, dreams, joy and sorrow. The fascination in Visions of the Soul comes from a heart that seems to be forever taking snaps of the important moments in life that we never even notice passing us by.

Reviews:         "Don't miss this one up!"

"Has opened the door to share her traditional poetry to the world, it’s rare to find a talent in poetry such as hers. She has the talent to and poetic skill to entertain and enlighten and I enjoyed reading her book and look forward" to her next."--- Gregory Walker, author of "Greg's poetry corner".

                                      "This is a must read!"

"Visions of the Soul" by Samia Muqueem is a book of poems about many feelings, including love, lonliness, longing, joy and hope.    My favorite poem in this collection is "I Want To Be," which wonderfully captures the feeling of wanting to merge with another person: "I want to be a tear, / to take birth in your eyes,/ to move on your cheeks, / and to die on your lips."  The writing style is simple but the sentiments are strong.  - Michelle True, author of "True Reflections," "True Emotions" and "True Identities"

I have read a lot of poetry in my life. I have gotten chills with Edgar Allan Poe and his morbid rhymes. I have been saddened by Emily Dickinson's outlook on the world, and now I have been moved by Samia Muqueem in her poetry "Visions of the Soul". The poems are moving and heartfelt. You can tell a lot of time went into writing each and every poem. If you like poetry then this is definitely the book for you. I hope to see more from this talented author.

Review for
Visions of the Soul by Samia Muqueem

Is a refreshing and remarkable book. The title is aptly fitting for the
deep fountains of emotions that run through her poetry in
Memories, Opinion about Love, and Presence.  I enjoyed Profound
Sentiments, Dreams, Tradition, and Nostalgia. Her writing is full of emotions centering on life and love. It is also a strong proponent of following your heart and using
one's imagination to help fulfill one's dreams. Innovations of her
art flowed through the lines of Flashbacks, Water and Fire, Analysis,
Heartbeats, and Experiences. Visions of the Soul is a recommended
majestic read.

Visions of the Soul: Book Review

"Samia Muqueem¼s poetry in this book has a sweet tang of the old-world in the way that she writes. Her obvious love of nature is shown in the many descriptions of moonlight nights and sandy beaches. She shares with us the sweet torments of love and her incredible sensitivity to what is going on around her.
Visually stimulating statements like åI danced all night in the arms of the moon¼ (The Moonlight Dance) makes Samia¼s work come alive."

 "Food for the Soul"

Samia Muqueem is a new poet with some amazing talent. I see her as being the
next voice of our generation. Vision of the soul is an astounding
concoction
of poetry from the heart. Thoughts of life are expressed in words, and
her
words have lead to poetry.
This book of spell binding poetry is food for ones soul. The collection
reviles countless lines with regards to the spirit of life, love and
the
essence of truth. Her poetry makes one search within. I highly
recommend
this book of poetry as a must read for all. I wish her all the best and

Book Review for "Visions of the Soul"

By

Samia Muqueem

Samia Muqueem is a beautifully talented poet. I enjoyed her work through out. I was touched by her sentiments in her volume, " Visions of the Soul", about love, loss and loneliness. One such line reads, "Can I steal you from this world/--- and kiss you with my soul?"  I recommend this volume to all poetry lovers.

Book Review for " Visions of the Soul"

By

Samia Muqueem

Being multilingual, I read poetry in quite a few languages. Samia Muqueem, a new entry to the U.S. continent, in her poetry "Visions of the Soul" has displayed quite a free flow of emotions and an expression of her inner most thoughts and feelings. The expression is full of realities in life, lust for love and compassion, and bulging with connections that are real at times and then imaginary. In her poem "GOOD-BYE" the summation of life from birth to death, is very well captured in just a few words. I am now waiting to see the next work of art from this new talent.

Visions of the Soul

Highly recommended

This wonderful and poignant collection of poems gave me a glimpse into the heart of Samia’s soul. I took a walk with her through her beautifully written poetry.

I spent time with her wandering along moonlit beaches. I was there when she praised our wondrous creator and felt the breath of his power. I shared with her a vision of innermost peace, hope and tranquility, then lurked in the shadows of her darkness. In some of her poems I felt the depth of her sadness touch my heart. Her poems about love are evocative, exquisite and passionate and swathed in a wonderful aroma of mystery. Thank you for sharing your visions with me, Samia, from one soul to another.

This is a must-have for all poetry lovers!

TITLE:  VISIONS OF THE SOUL

AUTHOR:  SAMIA MUQUEEM

Like the thoughts and memories swirling in our minds, Visions of the Soul is a mixture of simplicity and imagination, of reality and fantasy.

Some of the work is simplistic, almost childlike in its rhyme and flow, but the reader finds a deeper meaning as the words seep into our hearts:

Dreams

Like a handful of sand,

Capture them before they slip away,

A journey through a passage grand,

Beyond the stars slowly sway,

Work for your dreams to come true,

Or they'll vanish in the blue,

Follow your heart to your dreams,

Maybe one day they'll come true,

Secret wishes a heart desires,

Imagination is all that is required......

Other pieces are profound, heart felt and soul searching

The illusion of Presence

The illusion of presence

..................................Lingers on

As the lost moment's perfume

........................................Denies to die

Dawn breaks with a sigh

And silky lonely moonlight

Refuses to say goodbye........

The work of this poet asks questions of life and gives glimpses of love and frustration. Sweet memories, hours of loneliness, confusion and repression, joy and happiness all blossom in the words of Samia Muqueem like a multicolored garden of emotion. Vivid colors, dark and light that stay in the mind of the reader for days after putting the book down. Haunting words, beautifully presented by a poet with intense emotions.

Author, Samia Muqueem emigrated from Karachi, Pakistan to Toronto, Canada in 2003. She now lives in Windsor, Ontario. Samia has written poetry most of her life and her work appears in several magazines and newspapers.

A most enjoyable read, highly recommended by this reviewer; watch for more from this author.
