Makes Nice Optimistic People.
Many years ago, when I began
writing for a midwestern senior
newspaper, the editor wanted to put my
degree after my name. I rebelled since
everyone knows what B.S. really
stands for in today's world. So I
suggested they just pull some letters
from the alphabet -- maybe LMNOP.
The editor looked toward his assistant
and they laughed. Their minds
began to grind when I asked them to
come up with a phrase describing what
those five letters could stand for
in my philosophy.
After ten minutes or so of suggestions,
the three of us came up with the phrase
that I have used ever since in all my
writings -- much better than B---
S--- .
Though
I do not deny that some folks would
consider all my writings just that.
