Biography

 Background Information

I  was born on October 25th in Riverside, California.  I have three sisters and two brothers.  I have loved writing ever since I kicked the slats out of my crib.  I used to write short stories and poetry with left over notebook paper every June when school let out.  I write my novels, poetry, and short stories in between caring for my mother who has Parkinson's disease.  We live together and have a great relationship.  My first book, Accidental Outlaw, was inspired by many great westerns I've read and seen in the movies.  I hope to soon follow it up with more stories of different genres.  I love to write!  And also, I use the pen name of Weston instead of Smith.  Just thought you should know when you're looking for me!

 Accomplishments

I have several contributions in books from Gryphon House that assists fellow teachers in subjects such as arts and crafts, science, and so on.  I used to be a pre-school teacher at the YWCA.  Later I worked at the YMCA organizations. I worked as a pre-school teacher at the YWCA from 1984-1994.  From that experience came the activities in five different helpful encyclopedias.  In the YMCA, I worked in Off-Track and the summer day camps, developing activities for those age groups as well.

I was chosen as one of the 200 best poets of 2003 by the Library of Poetry.  I also have numerous poems published by Quill Books and the Library of Poetry.

I recently submitted a poem to Noble House Publishers in London, England!  They have read some of my poetry in the Library of Poetry and wanted a poem for their upcoming book called Colours of the Heart.  It is to be done in the style of late 19th century poems like those featuring Emily Dickenson and such. I'm thrilled to be included in a book over in England.
