Who’d have thought in a million years,
A web site I would see,
With pages      dedicated  to               Me and my
           POETRY!

******

No –one would have thought it!
Just ten years ago!
That I’d be here writing words,
Fit enough to show!

******

For the best education,
 I really had,
Was one throughout life,
With both happy times    and sad!

******
I attended,
from the age 5 to 15
A little mining village school,
Where up to 40 in a class,
Was known to be the rule!

              ******

We'd a teacher for a year,
Who would teach us everything!
An hour at this an hour at that,
Then an hour learning to sing!

        ******

Then the  following year another,
Would come and do the same,
Hitting us with the ruler,
If we didn’t play the game!

******

And half the time I was at school,
Outside the door I’d be,
Sent out for playing about,
    Acting the fool so constantly!

******

******

Now I wish that I could tell All my teachers of yesterday,
“That I must have listened sometime,
To all you had to say”

******

How I wish I could mail them,
To ask them to look,
At this little web site,
All for me and my new book!

******

Sadly I can't thank them Now, for efforts  made,
But I can thank friends and  family,
For all the part they've played!

******

For NOT pronouncing H’s,
Unfortunately is how I speak,
So help with proper grammar,
I’m always glad to seek!

******

Many friends have helped   by reading my poems   through,                      Telling where an H'         should go,            Correcting grammar too!

******

Without this help I may never,
Have got my work accepted,
I knows it would have come right back,
With a note saying
 “REJECTED”

 There was something in the Parlour?

~~~^V^~~~
And what it was I didn't know!
For it was a secret not on show!
~~~^V^~~~

To find out took me years,

After shedding many tears!

~~~^V^~~~
It's funny the things  people will do,
To try and protect other's who!
~~~^V^~~~

They think are too young to understand,

But then things don't always go as planned!

~~~^V^~~~
Things left to simmer rise up one day,
Because they never really go away!
~~~^V^~~~

Better to deal with problems as they arise,

Than to end up crying  over lies!

~~~^V^~~~^V^~~~
My Dad and Men Like Him. (Acrostic poem)
Robert Henry Farnsworth.
Raised by hard working folk,
Only to find that life's no joke,
Because he was sent down the mine at TEN,
Every shift spent, in that black hole of a den.
Resting after a bath in a tin,
    (Even if cold he had to get in.)
Then after a plate of his mothers stew,
~*^*~
He'd go to bed, and how the hours flew.
Each morning before daylight begun,
Never seeing the sun, to the pit he’d run.
Ready to face another long day,
Yearning to be able to just go play!
~*^*~
Friends too, were in the same boat,
All of them wearing a dirty old coat,
Raggy trousers with holes in the knees,
Not much protection in a winter breeze.
So together they clung emotionally,
With a camaraderie to last, eternally.
Only to be broken by a tragic end
Real old age, wasn't a friend.
Taken early by accident or  miners cough,
Hard working, honest men, who found life
rough!
~*^*~
**********************
Through struggle,
work and toil,
We can climb up from
the soil
~*^*~
To face the storms that's
there in life,
To bloom in spite of all
the strife.
~*^*~
Then flower with soul
searching light,
That comes fron God
Shining bright!
~*^*~
Don't lose heart if you
should fall,
With living bad times hit
us all.
~*^*~
It's the way we pick ourselves back up,
That makes us fill life's
precious cup!
~*^*~
When full of forgiving,
hope and love,
We'll find the path to Heaven above!
~*^V^*~*^V^*~*^V^*~
LOVE IS GOD!
*******     REMEMBER
always
 GOD
is your
Friend!
&
That to have a
Friend
You must be a
Friend!
~~~^V^~~~

There’s things I‘ve learned in life,
Through the hardship of living,
ONE:
Is that the sayings true,
“You get more joy from giving”

~~~*^V^*~~~Image Hosted by Free picture image hosting at Free-Picture-Host.com
For no matter how poor you are,
There’s much you can give and do,
Like your time and a comforting word,
To someone who’s blue!
            ~~~*^V^*~~~                       TWO:
I’ve learned the importance,
Off letting your heart forgive,
That bitterness held deep inside,
Hurts you more each day l
ive!      ~~~*^V^*~~~

Image Hosted by Free picture image hosting at Free-Picture-Host.com

THREE: I’ve now learned to let go,
To forgive and forget what’s bad,
That doesn’t mean I don’t remember,
But think thoughts to make me glad!

  ~~~*^V^*~~~
FOUR: I understand the power of prayer,
For those ill if we ask above,
The Lord and Healing Angels,
Will answer with their love!
~~~*^V^*~~~

Image Hosted by Free picture image hosting at Free-Picture-Host.com
FIVE:
I’ve learned sometimes their healing,
Can mean a loss to us,
But if Heaven is their goal,
Who are we to fuss!

~~~*^V^*~~~
SIX:I’ve learned that Old Man Death,
Doesn’t need an appointment to call,
He can come at any time,
So todays most important of all!
So make the most of every moment,
Of every hour of every day,
Life’s too precious to fill with hate,
So let’s encourage love to stay!
  Pat's THIRD Book On SALE NOW!
           Dancing in the Moonlight!
She loves to dance in the moonlight,
With the stars that twinkle in tune,
And the music of the gentle breeze,
That in her ear does croon!
~~~*^V^*~~~

Then when she’s hot and excited,
She runs to the sea to swim,
Stripping off her gossamer gown,
On a daring impromptu whim!
~~~*^V^*~~~
Back on the beach she stretches out,
Akimbo looking at heaven,
Feeling so peaceful and full of joy,
Like floating on cloud seven!
~~~*^V^*~~~

Once dried off, with gown flowing,
Along the beach once more she'll race,
Tracing her earlier footsteps,
Dancing at a frantic pace!
~~~*^V^*~~~
She does this while the stars all glow,
Always in the moonlight she loves so,
Till the sun begins to rise,
With the dawn its time to go!
A Rose Is Still A Rose!
     A rose is still a rose no matter the colour,
A dog is still a dog no matter the breed,
So why does colour and why does creed,
Separate and divide MAN?
                ******************
If a bird is still a bird even though it can’t fly,
And stretch its wings up in the sky,
Then why can’t MAN understand this,
And agree we differ!
           ******************
Cause’ MAN is still man be him fat, small or thin,
Woman, child infant with any coloured skin,
Just the same as roses that differs in colour,
MAN too is just the same as one another!
THE MINER'S DAY OUT
When the miners club had their family day out,
They voted for the seaside without a doubt,
Then on the day families all walked together,
Children laughing whatever the weather!
~~~*^V^*~~~

To catch the train hired just for the day,
That seemed to take the whole village away,
Then once on board with their Moms sat down
The kids looked out the windows at every town,

Image Hosted by Free picture image hosting at Free-Picture-Host.com

The length of the train made them marvel too,
When going round a bend seeing the backend too.
And the chugging of the train it seemed to say,
“We’ll soon be there” in a rhythmic way!

~~~*^V^*~~~
Then those with head out the windows would be,
Spit washed by Mom to get the soot off you see
On arrival at the seaside all then would go,
Down to the beach that they loved so,
~~~*^V^*~~~

Mom’s sat in deck chairs while dads wandered off,
To get something, they all said, for their cough!
Moms knowing what their something would be,
Said “Don’t dare be drunk when you come to me”

Image Hosted by Free picture image hosting at Free-Picture-Host.com

The kids ran about playing on the seashore,
Paddling, splashing and fishing for crabs galore,
Young girls in swimsuits were chased by lads who,
Thought, “They look good, by gum they do!

~~~*^V^*~~~
Then Dads would turn up at half past three,
For with the pubs shut then, they wanted be,
Paddling with wife and kids in the sea,
So they rolled their trousers up to the knee!
~~~*^*~~~

Then because the sun made them hot and red,
They wet their knotted hanky and put it on their head,
Walking back to the deckchairs all hand in hand,
To picnic with the families there on the sand!

Image Hosted by Free picture image hosting at Free-Picture-Host.com

Then a walk on the sea front for an oyster or two,
With kids having a candyfloss and an ice cream too,
The pubs then would open for the dads to get a bottle,
For the train back to pour down their throttle!

~~~*^V^*~~~
Well lubricated they would then sing a song,
Always one that all could sing along,
Daisy, Daisy, Roll out the barrel, loving you,
Oh! I do like to be beside the seaside, too!
~~~*^V^*~~~

Toddlers and babes fell asleep on the knee,
Happily on the way back exhaustedly!
Then once back home everyone would agree,
What a wonderful day they’d had by the sea!
