Men Don't Cry
As girls get an education in Africa, they begin to disregard some of the old traditions of their people. They reject forced marriages and female circumcision, among other things. When the chief and his ruling council decide to get harder on the women, the women get even more stubborn. This struggle between the women and the ruling men throws the whole society into an ungovernable state. There are crimes committed by women that not even the chief is sure of what penalty they carry; for instance, when girls eat eggs or the gizzard from the chicken, what punishment should they be given? By the time Chief Manani is retiring from office, the Luhya people, who are a tribe from Western Kenya, have seen the worst of their society. On the other hand, a woman, Musali, believes that the women should be given a chance.

Mamboleo
Things are running smoothly in the village for Mamboleo until certain changes begin to take place as the village is getting developed. To Mamboleo, development, as it is explained to him, is simply confusion. He doesn’t accept any of the proposals the local divisional officer, Mr. Njuguna, makes as a move to improve life for the villagers. Mamboleo has a rude experience at the health department in the name of treatment, a matter he is not willing to forget. With his son Sumba away from home for many years because of school and the loss of his herd, Mamboleo has had enough and he is determined to fight this so-called development which, to his dismay, has been embraced even by his own sister Amboko.
