Review's Of "watermelon dreams"

Anyway, my FAVORITES were 'parts, pieces and antiques' and 'my journal.'  I loved the idea of starting over and the wording of the stanzas in 'parts' just brought me into the poem...great writing poet!!

A review of Thompson's watermelon dreams 'the second in the collection of misterpoet.'
Given by Colleen Avelli, July 22, 2006.

Thompson's second collection is masterful!  His flair for describing the ordinary in an extra-ordinary way, combined with his ability to describe romance and seduction in a powerful, erotic manner, Thompson has again given his readers something to sink their teeth into.  A lighter attitude from Thompson pervades this collection.  Showing range and emotion, "parts, pieces and antiques," is a gem in it's multiple stanza form.   As is "SuNcrIsp," a piece true to the late e.e. cummings.
Watermelon dreams is a must read!  Thompson has defined himself as a poet with a view.

He’s Back!!!  Misterpoet’s distinctive writing style graces us once again in his second collection of poetry “Watermelon Dreams”. And I couldn’t be happier.  What more can I say but I just love misterpoet.  His words flow so freely, and resonate so profoundly.  With one stroke of his pen, he moves mountains. Misterpoet is powerful yet sincere, funny, and serious.  The words which come forth out of his soul paint us the pictures we’re afraid to look at. This book grips you by the heart, and doesn’t let go…even after reading it.  Misterpoet’s creative energy is ever present in this collection, and I cannot wait for more from this artist.

Review: Watermelon Dreams
by John Thompson, a.k.a "Misterpoet"

I found this collection to be very fun! Poetry that is full of emotion. I enjoyed reading and seeing the creativity displayed by Misterpoet. Poetry that reflects what we feel and see in everyday life. Misterpoet definitely has his own character that shines through his words. He has an interesting way of taking his thoughts and feeling an allowing them to paint colorful poetic pictures and scenes. His choice of words to express emotions, feelings and just the way he describes details really make them come of the paper! They pull you deeper and deeper into the story. Poems that make you think and let your imagination run wild.
A solid strong, well written collection that those who like to read and share poetry would enjoy.

watermelon dreams led me on a journey. The beginning of my quest was quite bright and hopeful. I experienced pain, had nightmares, and saw my dreams fall flat but despite the darkness I felt that I was a stronger, more capable person for each of these experiences. I knew I would triumph and like the author’s poem my journal I would rip out the old pages and start anew. I would leave my nightmares behind as in the poem running in tunnels.

Somewhere along my path, though I became slightly jaded. At times, my attitude was childlike but like in the evolving sequence of the poems you have a stupid heart, I eventually regained my maturity and become introspective once again.

Then, despair set in. At first, with darker moments like those described in I sit thinking of things where the poet sees beauty and wants to destroy it. Eventually, I felt as broken as the poet in broken words spoken. It was quite a journey.
