Biography

 Background Information
Mac Nelson holds a bachelor's degree in speech education and theatre from the University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg, and a master's degree in education from Mississippi College, Clinton. He also worked one year toward a master's degree at Candler School of Theology, Emory University, Atlanta. Mac taught high school in Prichard, AL, Jackson, MS, and Glendale, CA, and presently teaches English as a Second Language at Nyack College, Manhattan campus. From 1996 - 2000, he was artistic director of the Lamb's Resident Theatre in New York City.

 Accomplishments
Mac directed the play, "A Man Called Peter," based on the life of the late Peter Marshall, former chaplain of the U.S. Senate. This production won an award by the Off-Off Broadway Review as one of New York's top 12 off-off Broadway productions of the 1998-99 season. Mac also wrote a musical play, "Hot Coffee" which was produced at the Lamb's Theatre. "Hot Coffee" was named OOBR's 'pick of the week' among all the off-off Broadway shows that opened in New York during the first week of November, 1999.

 Additional Information
Mac has pounded the sidewalks of Hollywood, Nashville and New York and has enjoyed a fringe career in performing. He has worked alongside Jerry Lewis, Madeline Kahn, Marty Feldman, Victoria Jackson, Ted Knight and the gorgeous Liz Taylor. He eventually went back into church work and teaching and once again embraced directing more than acting. Mac is a tap dancer and still works out with his tap shoes every chance he gets. As far as Mac knows, he's the world's only tap dancing Santa Claus, a character he pulls out most Decembers.
