My name is Sophia L. McMorris and I am a native from Spanish Town, Jamaica. I received my elementary education at Spanish Town Primary. I then attended The Queen’s High School where I received my high school education. After high school, I heeded to the call that had been on my life from an early age, and went on to teacher’s college. At St Joseph’s Teachers College I majored in Elementary education.
After graduation, I started my career at Hydel Prep School in Jamaica where I taught a fourth grade class. Within my first year of teaching, I excelled in every area. My fourth graders performed exceptionally well. At the end of the school year, I was awarded Teacher of the Year. I then felt a strong calling to work nearer to home and made the decision to teach at Harrison’s Prep School in Spanish Town. I taught a first grade class and again my students excelled in every area academically.
I then migrated to the U.S.A. where I continued my education at Lehman College in Bronx, New York. I then moved to Florida to be nearer to my family in Jamaica and also my brother. I worked at Harvest Christian Academy in Tampa, Florida. Here again I did a tremendous job as head of The Junior High Department. At the end of my final year at Harvest, I was awarded Teacher of the Year. I presently work at King’s Ave Christian School in Brandon.Fl as a third grade teacher. I strongly believe that I have found the grade that God had intended me to teach.
I am a committed Christian who worships at Faith Christian Center in Brandon, FL under the leadership of Pastor Thomas Garrett and Min.Stephanie Garrett. I actively serve in the hostess department. I love the Lord dearly and is determined to serve Him to the end. I am single and reside in Brandon, Fl.
