Lynn Renee Simon of Brooksville has published her first book of poems, A Journey Into The Mind.

In the book, Simon welcomes the reader into her world of dreams. While her poems are poems of love, they speak of a deeper kind of love, a love that reaches into the most inner depths of the soul. Simon's poems do not just speak of physical love, but of the pure joy of love, as well as the agony of pain that love can bring.

"If I can touch your heart or place a teardrop in your eye, put a smile on your face or touch your soul, then you and I have created a poet's dream," said Simon.

The book was published by Publish America and is available through the company and at Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million and Amazon.com. For information about the author and her book, visit http://www.geocities.com/lrs612/index.html on the Web.

Lakes Poet gets national honors

COMPETITIONS WILL PUBLISH FOUR OF HER POEMS IN BOOKS

Lynn Renee Simon submitted five original poems to national poetry contests and has received notification that four of her works have been accepted for publication.

Simon, who has been writing for more then 30 years, will be published in the spring 1997 Collections by Iliad Press and in the collection of works titled Best New Poems published by the Poets Guild. Another poem submitted to Quill Books will be published in a forthcoming book and has been entered in the “Editor’s Favorite” awards competition.   Her poem “You Are My Shadow” has made it to the semifinals in a competition sponsored by the National Library of Poetry and will be published in there anthology “Journey Between Stars” in December 1997.

“I’ve been writing all my life,” said Simon. “I entered these writing contests to see if I would receive any comments on my work. I never imagined that I would make it to the finals and semifinals and that my poems would be published. I’m walking on cloud nine.

Her first book, “Reach Into My Soul,” a collection of original works, took three years to complete. “it’s only about 40 pages, but it’s a good representation of my writing,” Simon said. “Everybody sees something different when they read my poems.”

She will begin the search for a publisher this month, encouraged by the positive responses from the competitions.

Simon and her husband, Michael, are residents of Lauderdale Lakes. They have lived in South Florida for the past 14 years.
