Passage from Mercy Crossing:
Saturday morning came and bought a light mist that chilled the air. Wearing nothing but a pair of shorts, Kyle walked outside of his house. He looked up and stretched his arms wide. Kyle embraced the cold mist as it succumbed to his face; he needed desperately to feel cleansed. He engulfed every drop as if it would be his last act of faith. It felt like little pieces of heaven pouring down on him. Kyle searched to find redemption of all the evil that surrounded him. It was evident that many paths could be taken but the key was finding out which one to take. Kyle knew that his course seem to be already laid out for him. A path that might lead him down a dark, spiral road which he vowed never to enter again. Many roads can lead to a path but it only takes one path to destroy a person’s self-reliance. Kyle was uneasy all day long. He couldn’t think of nothing but the meeting that had been set up with the Hilltop Mafia the night before. The fear could be seen in Kyle’s eyes. It never crossed his mind about what Trey might do. What concerned Kyle the most was the fact that he, himself was capable of anything and that really scared him.

Passage: Pieces from the Heart
Holding on to life long enough to see, Kate glances at Tommy’s body. Then she takes a final look at the little girl hiding behind the couch.
Kate murmurs, “You’ll finally free Ellie! I…I love…” Knowing the hour glass has run out of sand, she closes her eyes and gently goes into the next life, as if death is a long-awaited blessing. Never moving from behind the couch; Ellie still re-mains silent, staring at her mother.
