.     The day had been long - his emotions were still in turmoil. It's funny how just a little time can change an entire life. Minutes can make miracles, and lifetimes can make legacies.

Just a few hours before, he had a brother, a beautiful woman, and a heart so full of joy he thought it would come apart from the sheer happiness of it all. A long loud rumbling thunder rolled through the sky.

Why is it that I always seem to loose brothers and lovers at the same time? A slight frown crossed his lip at the thought.

A strange feeling crept over him. He knew all the trouble was going to be over soon, but it wasn't quite finished yet. There were some loose ends that still needed to be tied up.

         There were always loose ends.

But, it was all going to work out. What he wanted now, more than anything, was to get back to her. it had only been a few hours, and his heart was lonely without her. His one-only-true love. She was safe in the city now, and he couldn't wait to see her again. It would only be a couple of days more, but he already knew the time would pass like an eternity. His love for her was stronger than ever. A flash of bright lightening streaked through the night sky.

The yellow roses he had in the cab of the truck with him, were so fragrant, it automatically brought the joy back to his heart. He would give them to her when he saw her again.

Which hopefully would be soon, He thought.

He loved the way her face lit up when he'd give her things. She was so lovely, so pure. The windshield wipers slapped with the beat of the music playing on the radio.

A smile crossed his soft lips as he thought of her. Rain was coming down in torrents; the wipers could hardly keep up with the amount of water racing towards the windshield. Lightening flashed through the air as he got to the large gate. A continual rolling thunder followed. He punched in the code and waited as the large metal gate swung open, and he drove through. Another bright streak of lightening, or what he thought was lightening blasted through the window...

  --- >> CHAPTER ONE << ---

          Ring...ring...

She was standing in the warm salty sea air on the bow of the large white passenger cruise ship, the waves sloshed against the big vessel as it cut magestically through the water. Her long auburn hair was blowing freely and frantically in the strong headwinds. What made the scene complete was she was safely embraced in the muscualr arms of her one true love...

             Ring...ring...

What was ringing? Like coming out of a thick fog...her senses were in turmoil. Becoming somewhat aware, she felt like she was coming up...semi conscious from a deep...practically comatose...utterly peaceful sleep...

            Ring...ring...again...

Lying on her stomach, she drowsily reached a heavy hand out for the night stand beside her bed. It seemed like she was being awakened by the noise of the sounding alarm clock...she drug a sleep weary arm over to the table and felt around for the ringing menace to shut of the noisy racket...finally she found it...switched it off...and fell back into a deep calming sleep.

For a moment her mind escaped back...back to the tranquil, tropical dream...she was standing near the extensive rail on a large cruise ship. Her whole being was carried off...far away to a beautiful place. the wind blew through her thick, long brown-hair and the salty sea spary speckled over her unblemished face like a soft spring rain. She could smell the ocean, and hear the sea gulls, and see the dolphin's leaping and soaring out of the water. The dolpins were swimming as fast as their sleek bocies would take them in the wake of the ship as it roared steadily on. Her sweet love brushed his soft sensuous lips across hers, and she felt the heat of desire...

            Ring...Ring...still ringing...

The sound was pulling her back again, pealing the peaceful tranquility from the air...

...could it be coming from the ship? Her senses were mystified...

Becoming more aware of where she was...she reached out once again...and felt around the end table...this time for the cordless phone...she breathed in and then through an exhaling breath, she wet her lips. She rolled her tongue areound her dry mouth, then rubbed her lips together as she picked up the receiver and placed it to her ear.
