"Confessions" Author is a special guest
at
National Golf Course Owners (Canada) Golf Tournament
On October 4, J.J. Gowland attended the NGCOca Central Region Ontario annual golf tournament held at Cardinal Golf course in Newmarket, Ontario. It rained! It poured! But 150 golfers played on the soggy course and enjoyed a wonderful dinner and prize presentation with 200 dinner guests.
J.J. Gowland was invited as a special guest and played in the scramble format with Dave Mills, Executive Director of the Golf Association of Ontario. Dave's son, Jon Mills, is a PGA Tour professional.
The organizers kindly set up a table in order fo the author to sell and sign copies of "Confessions of a Sandbagger"
Additional copies were presented to prize winners.

Golf book "Confessions of a Sandbagger" now in South Africa!
"I liked your book so much I took two copies to South Africa and gave them to friends!" Frank W. said to the author yesterday as they finished playing the 1st hole. "I had won a copy and bought two more. I gave them to friends in January."
Frank lives in Ontario, Canada March through December and spends January and February in South Africa.
The author, J.J. Gowland is thrilled to know that copies of the hilarious golf novel are being read world wide.
Author wins (almost)
Sunday August 13, 2006. J.J. Gowland, Author of "Confessions of a Sandbagger" had just 9 putts in 9 holes yesterday to place second in the club championship (C Flight). Gowland started the round yesterday with a four stroke lead but was down by 3 shots after finishing the front nine. Lisa M. was shooting the game of her life with a stellar 3 over par. On the back nine Gowland one putted on 7 holes, chipped in on one hole and 2 putted one other hole for a total of nine putts in 9 holes!
"Until yesterday, the best I've ever done was 10 putts in 9 holes. but 9 putts overall for 9 holes is almost as good as winning the flight." Gowland said while admitting she had to brag about something. Almost is the operative word. But what can anyone do when the challenger is playing superb golf.
At the end of the final round Lisa M. won the flight and Gowland placed second.

Glen Abbey Golf Shop is open every day for the next couple of weeks.

Glen Abbey Golf course, designed by Jack Nicklaus, has hosted the Canadian Open, a PGA tour stop for many years. In recent years the Canadian Open has been played at various courses across the country. The property is also the site of the RCGA offices and the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame.
Glen Abbey Golf Club will be remembered for years as the site of "The Shot of 2000" — Tiger Woods' 218-yard 6-iron from a fairway bunker on the 18th hole to set up the birdie that clinched the Bell Canadian Open and the Triple Crown. Tiger's Triple included his victories in the 2000 U.S., British and Bell Canadian Opens.

"Confessions of a Sandbagger" listed on forbesbookclub.com OAKVILLE, Ontario, Canada -- J.J. Gowland, author of "Confessions of a Sandbagger" ISBN 1413755275 is pleased to announce that the book is now listed on www.forbesbookclub.com.
"Confessions of A Sandbagger" has just been listed on the Forbes Book Club website. It's more than just a golfer's story. Mikey Blaine, the golf course sandbagger, on a glorious October day in Southern Ontario, has been tied to his golf bag and tossed in the pond on the par 3 17th hole. With his head just above water, he now faces other golfers and must convince them to drag his soggy being from the pond before winter sets in.
The author is honored that Confessions of a Sandbagger is on www.forbesbookclub.com site because the story contains more than just golf lessons. (A search on the site can be done by either the title or by the author's name.)
There are examples of business situations that can be used as case studies in the new MBA curriculum. Mikey isn't a corporate CEO but imagine the head of Enron was tied to his golf bag and shareholders were allowed to pass by and pass judgement. What would those shareholders do and say?
Readers are contacting the author and relating that the book is, in a word, "hilarious." J.J. says, "Golf is a funny game and can teach us all lessons in life, relationships, and business."
The book is available world wide and it's nice to see it on a business site as well. | |

July 2005
The book "Confessions of a Sandbagger" makes great tournament prize table items.
It's great to give to the golfer who is the surprising LOW NET, Low Gross, and for the "Most Honest" Golfers. It's already being used at Charity Tournaments in Southern Ontario.
April 2005
The golf season has finally arrived in Southern Ontario. Golf courses all around Toronto are open for business. Some courses are still too soft to allow riding carts but the courses are turning green, the winter kill spots are healing and golfers are lining up at practice ranges to get that swing back into shape.
Don't forget to stretch and warm up before you step onto the first tee. You'll be pleased with the results.
It's early in the season and over the winter we've all forgotten and maybe forgiven last year's notorious sandbagger of the course, but he exists, he's out there, honing his skills and watching for the next sucker on the tee.
Read 'Confessions of a Sandbagger' before the season strikes at your heart.

Sept. 10, 2005
A golf course owner, with courses in Kelowna BC, was recently in Oakville, Ontario.
In August, he was introduced to me as a golfer from Australia, and now in September,
I don't know if Bob arranged for my book to be listed in Australia but I'll thank him anyway
the next time I see him.
He spends Canadian summers in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada and the other
seven months in New Zealand and Australia so it could be awhile before we meet again.
So to Bob, I say, "Thanks Bob!"

July 2004. J.J. Gowland, an Oakville, Ontario writer is pleased to announce the signing of a publishing contract with Publish America.
Confessions of a Sandbagger, a golf fiction novel, will be published in the coming months and available directly through www.publishamerica.com and various other online sites.
The Sandbagger… Everyone knows one and every golf course has one but what can the honest golfer do about the bandits in this sport? Check out "Confessions of a Sandbagger" and find out what happens to Michael Blaine. He’s up to his neck in pond water and he needs to convince the players on the par three 17th that he deserves the help of a rescue team. He even tries to convince the golf course goose-chasing Border Collie to recruit a 911 committee. While Mikey waits for salvation he confesses to just about every misfire he has ever made.
