Biography

Jess Parker was born October 15, 1931, in Winnabow, North Carolina. Upon turning 17 years of age he joined the US Navy and served for 22 years. Jess and his wife Judy selected Bremerton, Washington, as their retirement home, but after 10 years they moved to North Carolina, and Parker served in Brunswick County, North Carolina, as the County Veteran Services Officer. When retired from Local Government Employees the Parkers returned to Washington and during a visit to Bremerton, they went to see their old home. There was a 'for sale' in the window. They stopped and bought the home again. They ask, "Who says you can't go home again.

 After 22 years in the Navy, Parker listened to his family about writing. He had written for newspapers, magazines, etc but did not try writing fiction until after retiring in 1991. His first novel was Detachment X-Ray and he experienced 184 rejections before Publish America accepted it for publishing. Detachment X-Ray was released May, 2001, and the sequel Covert Avengers, also published by Publish America, was released December 2003. A third book Black Ops was released by Publish America May 2005. Parker's writing also includes poetry and short stories. In one of the short stories he claims friendship with Big Foot and the Loch Ness Monster.

 Additional Information

 Jess Parker was 70 years old when Detachment X-Ray was published. He continues, at 72 Covert Avengers was published. Black Ops was released May 2005. Jess Parker is 74  and he says, "Just think what the title will be when I am 80."
