Jake Green, a US Navy Seaman, was caught up in a battle front advance in the Korean War. Without training for battlefield duties, the Marines assigned him duties as a radioman and gunfire spotter with a forward echelon unit led by Lt. John (Silvertip) Silvers. During an attack against North Korean forces, the Marines out distanced their supporting forces and were surrounded by the North Koreans. The unit held out for five days under heavy battle situations. Lt. Silvers led Green and two other Marines in an escape. Upon returning to his ship, Green was told that the situation he had been in had never occurred. He was then ordered back to the United States for special training and Detachment X-Ray was formed.

This secret organization operated out of the South Atlantic with the chain of command reaching back to the White House. Detachment X-Ray was very successful in search and destroys missions. After a number of years they were ordered back to the States. Instead of disbanding, X-Ray was reorganized and based in the United States.

Jake Green emerged from deep cover that had been ordered after he had left Detachment X-Ray and became Staff Assistant to a United States Senator. His first assignment was to assist Senator Sam Martin at a UN conference with a trade delegation from the People's Republic of China. Jake developed an attitude of hostility toward one of the Chinese delegates. He recognized the future Premier as the Chinese Officer that had commanded the capture of the Marine unit Jake was serving with.

Then unexpectedly Jake was reunited with his comrades from the Korean War, and they decided to assassinate the future Premier of China. During the staking phase, other targets came within their sights. They took on a mountain feud and stopped a major drug running organization. Then the Washington D. C. Police Department came to their attention. Jake also made an operation with a unit of former members of Detachment X-Ray and CIA Operatives.

Black Ops is the third book of the Jake Green series. Jake is called back by his old commanding officer from the Detachment X-Ray days. World politics had come to the point where international terrorist were almost unopposed while they were striking targets at random. Allah's Army was a new terrorist group that were not looking to become suicide victims. The new training was changing to a point the people were looking to become an army rather that martyrs. The first group that come under Jake's scrutiny was named the Fist of Allah and was stalking the President of the United States. In simultaneous operations Jake's friends were in the bayous of the Mississippi Delta and in Gaza City on the Gaza Strip.
