The Chosen:

Jeff published his first book, The Chosen, in May, 2003. Although the book is a short read, Jeff spent about 4 years writing it. "I'd write it for awhile and then set it down. It took me awhile to realize that I could be a published author! Once I finished the manuscript and submitted it to my publisher, I was quite excited! One challenge was predicting the future changes in technology since the book is set in the year 2017. I enjoyed writing about cell videophones and cars that drive themselves. But on the serious side, the book warns about the dangers of too much technology in a changing world."

If you live in the Bridgetown (Ohio) or Mack area...you'll feel like you are right at home when you read The Burglar. There is even a mention of the tornado that passed through in 1974. In real life, we lost our house that year. The home was a 2-story house on South Road in western Cincinnati.

Synopsis of The Burglar

The Burglar is set in Bridgetown, a suburb of Cincinnati. Jonathon Ailers thinks he is on a routine house robbery, but he doesn't realize that someone is home. In fact, there are two someones --the dog, Max, and cat, Penny. Much of the story is told from the pets' points of view. A woman police officer, Mattie Heilman, and her partner attempt to capture the burglar. During a police raid on a hotel, the burglar escapes and and holds Mattie hostage. The burglar leads the police on an interesting chase - straight down I-75. Mattie is taken back when she discovers that she and the burglar have common ties. The story takes many twists and turns as the burglar and Mattie are suddenly fugitives heading south.

I think you're going to like this short novel...it was fun to write and it has some important lessons about life.
