Jeanne Chabot grew up in Moose Factory, Ontario, among the Cree people of the James Bay lowlands, a people talented in music, art and story-telling. She has been telling and writing stories ever since she was a young child. When she was 19, she moved to Québec City, studied theology and Spanish, went on a missionary trip to Paraguay, South America, and met and married her husband. After living six years in Prince George, British Columbia, they now live with their five children in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, just east of Montreal, Québec. As well as writing stories, Jeanne works as a hairdresser from home and spends much of her time chauffering her children to their many soccer games.
