Genesis Kim was born in Flushing Hospital on March 10, 1982. He lived in Woodside up until high school, and then eventually moved to Flushing with his family. He went to undergrad at Stony Brook University where he majored in Political Science, and then graduated from St. John¡¯s Law in June of 2008. He never resided outside of New York.    

He started writing novels in the sixth grade. His first novel ¡°Hangouts¡± is loosely based on events that he witnessed while growing up as a young teenager in Queens. One of his current motivations as a writer is to give Asians more representation in the literary world.
