Gary has written extensively on the plight of ethnic minorities in Southeast Asia - especially groups known under the collective French lable: Montagnards. He provided related background data to a former Senate Special Committee ostensibly addressing the issue of American POW/MIAs remaining in SE Asia (and elsewhere) after the Vietnam War.He has written on similar topics for private individuals and organizations interested in the same topic.

Reviews

Gary recently reviewed George MacDonald Fraser's (The Flashman Papers; The Steel Bonnets; Mr. American; others) latest book: "The Light's On at Sign Post" for Amazon.com. Excerpt is provided below.

" . . . GMF's political and social views are neither politically correct in modern terms, nor are they gently put. Look for them in his 'Angry Old Man' sequences in the book. Fortunately (or perhaps not), his perspectives on the damage done Britain by New Labor and the Left is akin to the wounds suffered in America by similar elements. Racism, political correctness, Europeanism, the media, erosion and destruction of British institutions - all come under his gaze and suffer by a pen wielded much like a two-handed sword. My own country is not immune from that assault, yet I find little if anything (if I were to be completely honest) to argue about in either his perceptions or conclusions. Not every man or woman will welcome his views - but, they will benefit from reading them.

GMF's fiction is in a class of its own, and we can only hope he adds to it prolifically - continuing with Flashman, at least. His political and social commentary is another thing. He is much better at it than I think he is willing to admit. Give us more of it, GMF. Next time don't slip it furtively into a bipoic, make a book of it - roaring your anger and disapproval full throat into 'their' faces.
Get this book. Steal it if you must (sorry, GMF). . ."
