I first told Donna that I would read her manuscript while I had two hours leisure time, flying to Denver this week. Just out of curiosity, I started pursuing the first paragraphs of “Plot Twist” for, as we all know they are the ones that get us started and let us know if we want to go on or not.  Well—was I in for a big surprise?  You have to like an opener that starts:

Karl Larkin, lead detective for the Springfield Police Department, says murder is like having a tooth pulled.  No one wants to do it, but sometimes it is necessary, or so the murderer thinks.  Unfortunately, in the twenty years he had worked as a police officer, he had seen plenty of extractions.

Well you won’t be surprised to know that I finished reading the whole thing in a couple of days. (I am a slow reader)  It was not only well written, but the plot never faltered from the beginning of the crime of this wealthy woman to it’s final resolve.  This family, however wealthy, is from hell it seems, as our detective goes about discovering the horrendous secrets therein, that include incest, abuses of all kind, like children that don’t belong to the husbands.  One is kept constantly in suspense, with no hint who-so-ever committed the crime, which is not revealed until the last pages. (I was good, I didn’t peek!)

I thoroughly enjoyed the romance between our handsome detective Karl Larkin, and one of the beautiful suspects in the murder.  It all stayed in keeping with the way I think a police department is run.  Karl Larkin is a very engaging fellow, who one cannot help but like for his good heart and common sense.  For as he said, “Justice is not always done and the guy doesn’t always get the girl, in the real world

I hope I haven’t given too much of the plot away.  I liked it and I know you will too.  Well Done Donna.  I give this one 5 well merited stars!

In this tale of crime, the reader joins Detective Karl Larkin as he investigates the citizens of Springfield to seek out justice for Julie Cromwell, a woman murdered during her own planned kidnapping.

The case is further complicated as Larkin struggles with his feelings towards Julie’s stepdaughter, Cassie Thompson, who happens to be a lead suspect.

Donna J. Thompson has written a no-nonsense, action-packed story that is filled with authentic characters of diverse backgrounds. Thompson brings the novel to an unexpected ending that will leave readers in shock.

I would especially recommend Plot Twist to those who enjoy a good whodunit.

  Review Of Plot Twist

Donna Thompson is a very gifted Author and I have enjoyed reading “Plot Twist”

Detective Larkin is a Detective that never gave up on trying to solve the case of a dead woman. I will give it an E for excellent and five stars. Donna Thompson made me feel like I was right there with her characters walking through each step until finally the case was solved. The title says it all,  because it definitely was twisted. If you are interested in reading a good detective story with a twist, then this is definitely a book you need to read. I HIGHLY recommend this book to all mystery lovers both far and wide. Thanks.
