Julie Cromwell is a selfish, manipulating insecure woman, ant those are her good qualities. Her husband, a well-known cosmetic surgeon thinks it is because her father sexually abused her, when she was a child.
Julie sets up a fake kidnapping to find out if her husband loves her enough to pay a million dollars for her safe return. Something goes wrong and she winds up dead. Thus, it is the first “Plot Twist”, but certainly not the last.
Enter Karl Larkin, lead detective of the Springfield Police Department, and his partner Ted Cramer. Together they refuse to let sleeping dogs lie. They begin to rattle the skeletons in the family’s closets, and following leads that only lead to dead-ends. Larkin soon finds himself breaking his number one rule: Don’t ever get involved with the family you are investigating, and never, never, fall for your prime suspect. |
