Biography

I was born December 16, 1943, in the small town of Crofton, Kentucky. Being one of seven children, life was always changing, never dull. I attended a small one-room school for the first five years of my life and experienced things that children today cannot even relate to. In my writings, I attempt to take you back to those times and the times of my childhood and let others experience the great times that I had.

My mother was also a writer and passed on the magic of books to me at an early age. I now wonder what she would have done with all the great tools that we have available to us these days. I will never know but in my writings I will attempt to do her justice and try and put voice to some of her thoughts as well as mine.

 Background Information

I graduated high school in 1962, married  Johnny Phipps shortly after and had three great children, Tony, Angie and Sheila. They have given me seven grandchildren, Bryan, Nicholas, Brandon, Ashley, Bridget, Eric and Jonathan, all of which are great. I have only worked at four jobs in my life, the first one was for the Kentucky Division of Forestry in which I worked in a fire tower and spotted forest fires. I left that shortly after my first child was born and worked one week at a laundry, (not my cup of tea). My third job was in a shoe factory and lasted 10 years. My final job was at the Housing Authority of Hopkinsville from which I retired in 2002 after 23 years.

I now stay home with my husband who has lost his eyesight and both legs to diabetes. My writing has helped me fill the hours since retiring and I find it very relaxing even in stressful times.
