April 2007
Recieved a real nice review from Ron Watson at New Book Reviews. Cannnnnottt...thank him enuf.

Took the review and book to a few stores.

Davis Kidd in Green Hills was very cool, nice and receptive for the submission process.  Let's see if they decide to carry it.

Went to Borders...funny story

I'm standing there with my book at the information counter. There is a man in front of me with his back to me speaking with someone who sounds like an author. The Borders rep. is telling the author how he's really wanting to get away from the "local" authors and how he only wants to deal with the "pros"  from LA & New York.

So, I'm already feeling like a schlep.

He finishes his conversation, turns and looks at me, standing at the information counter for ten minutes already, and walks away.
So, as I'm standing there, I decide to look up my name on their search engine  (cause I'm just still getting a buzz from that..lol)  and I'm not in the system....WHAA???  (lol)

So I look up EKKO, and it has the author listed as John Walker.

(Hmmm, not alot of attention to detail there. Now I understand why someone told me "EKKO" was not available at Borders.)

OK, finally another lady walks up to the Information counter, and I request information on submission. She hands me two sheets of information, and walks away.

I guess unless you've got cash in your hand, Borders really doesn't want to deal with you.

No judgements, just thought I'd share that little tid-bit.

Moral of the story....shop at Davis Kidd guys...
they are SUPER friendly people!

Nov 6, 2006:   Found out that the book is for sale on the web. www.publishamerica.com   waiting for my own copies to arrive. Meanwhile, many thanks to those who have already ordered a copy. Even had an order for 2 copies going to Hong Kong....what the??  lol     The next move is to get the book into every coffeeshop I can find, as well as every music store in Nashville (that will take it) and of course...the big book stores with some signings to follow.

News

Oct 5, 2006:   ok, I guess I'm starting this site. lol The news as of today is that the book has been sent to me in it's "Book Form", which is a whole lot nicer looking than anything I've done. Now...it's hitting home that a book is on the way! I have a few days to get this back to them and then it goes into production, while I guess I work with cover design. I gotta say that there guys (Publish America) move fast!! There's a chance that EKKO might be out before Christmas, but I'm not sure. So I guess that's all the news I have right now. As I learn to navigate this site, trust me, I'll be adding every little morsel available.
