A Review of Forever Yours by Donna Laird
Samantha travels to New York where she can finally leave her past behind. Michael was now thousands of miles away and as she stepped into the bustling city, she knew she was where she belonged.
It took no time for Samantha to find her place in the theater. Her dreams were coming true as she has been chosen for the lead role in a new play that was sure to jumpstart her career, but as she stepped into her new role, a pair of gray eyes cast a spell on her that she couldn’t shake. Jake’s reputation was one that forced Samantha to be cautious of him, and Samantha proceeded delicately, and despite every bit of doubt her heart feels, she is drawn into a web of attraction and desire for him that she cannot turn away from.
Just as she began to relax and take a step forward with Jake, Michael returns to her life and her world is turned upside down. Secrets and lies are revealed and a now pregnant Samantha flees, without ever wanting to look back.
This story is a story of love, deception and forgiveness. Samantha learns a powerful lesson in “Forever Yours” but through it all, Samantha finds a love so true, that it will tug at your heartstrings. The characters so descriptive and real, that you will not be able to put this book down until you have reached the last page. A fabulous book that I would recommend to any reader!

Samantha Kane feels stifled in the small town of Willow Falls. She wants to be an actress and is even given the chance to work with a well known actor in a school play. However, Samantha discovers that not all celebrities are kind and decent when Michael Foster attacks her upon taking her home one evening. Her father walks into the room and misconstrues the situation. The time until Samantha graduates and can move to New York is fraught with tension.
Samantha arrives in New York and moves in with her friend Maggie, a model. Samantha gets an agent, Ben Taylor, who finds her looks eerily familiar. Ben is able to get her an audition for a Broadway play, written by none other than Jake Alexander; the New York Times Best Selling author. At the audition Samantha nearly falls as she enters the theater, but is caught by a man she finds to be very attractive. She discovers later he is Jake Alexander.
Donna Laird has done a wonderful job of bringing Samantha and Jake’s on again, off again romance to life. The difficulties Samantha must overcome in her quest to become an actress, her inevitable encounter with Michael Foster and the heart wrenching decisions she faces are woven into a story that is sure to be a hit.

Five Stars for Donna Laird’s – Forever Yours.
I was captured from page one of this exceptional novel as I traveled along the journey of character, Samantha Kane.
Moving from a small town in Arkansas to New York, she hoped to escape the pain and heartache that her father had etched into her heart.
There had been other reasons as well, - one being the betrayal of Michael Foster, the man she’d given her heart to.
Hoping that New York would fulfill her lifelong dream of being an actress, it seemed the logical place to escape to.
Ms. Laird’s writing is superb, as she takes you through the journey of Samantha’s pain and passions, with a new twist lurking around every corner. I was on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next.
I anxiously await the release of the next novel from this outstanding author. It will be a “must read” on my list.

Samantha Kane was hurt and humiliated by a fellow actor. Her father came in upon what would have been her rape, and for some reason he refuses to listen to her explain the situation. Driven away by the pain of her father's emotional desertion, Samantha makes her way to New York to find her own life, her own way, and to jump start her acting career. When her agent, Ben, brings her the play that could make her a star she is too excited for words. The writer, Jake Alexander, is a world-famous author and this was his first attempt at staging a play. It could be the perfect thing for both of them Jake Alexander has made his living as an author, and now he is starting to enter the world of entertainment with a superb screenplay. Everything must be perfect - especially the actors. Samantha caught his attention when he saw her briefly at a restaurant. But when she took the stage to audition, he knew she was ideal to be the star of his play, and the star in his bed. Jake is not used to having to work at "getting the girl," but as he finds out Samantha isn't just any girl, she's THE girl. Can the two of them reconcile their budding personal relationship with their professional relationship at work? Will the rumors and insecurities surrounding them destroy their fragile relationship? Ms. Laird does an excellent job of bringing the inner workings of the entertainment business to light. Jake Alexander, although a new addition to the world of stage plays, is an old hat at dodging the limelight and giving into pressures. Samantha is unwilling to give up her identity just to be another notch on his bedpost. The two of them heat up the book and bring realism to loving each other, but unwittingly hurting those around them. Overall rating: 4 1/2 Hearts Sensuality rating: Mildly sensual

Samantha Kane was on the run from something in her past. The young actress flees to New York City. Home to every dreamer. The young Arkansas native moves in with a best friend from childhood to pursue a career in acting.
While in New York, Samantha is befriended by a agent by the name of Ben Taylor. Ben is haunted by his own past.
While in New York it is where Samantha meets Jake Alexander, a writing prodigy turned screenwriter. The real adventure begins. Never knowing real love, Samantha is confused by the signals her body is sending to her brain about the handsome young man with unforgettable eyes.
I loved the way Donna Laird was able to pull you into every page of her novel. The plot, cast of characters and dialogue were very interesting. I was hooked, at first thinking it to be your ordinary romance novel. After I was into around thirty pages of the novel I knew this wasn't your typical romance.
The blend of characters was beautiful, and they way they were all connected was expertly done. I had no idea how the book would end, and it caused me to turn each page to see what would happen next. Few romance books have made me interested, as this one did.
This is a novel that can be enjoyed by a range of people. Donna Laird has got a talent for making a reader care and understand her characters. That is a talent. I hope Donna Laird will be writing more in the future, it will be interesting to see this writer grow and change within her writing career.

Review for ‘Forever Yours’ *****
This book is not my usual choice of genre but I was captured from the start by the sympathetic characters, enjoying the roller coaster ride with them as excitement, hope and despair became intertwined in this romantic tale.
The story unfolds as the young would-be actress Samantha is auditioning for a part in a play. She meets and falls for handsome Jake who is producing the play but her naivety and his arrogance make their hot romance seem destined to fail. Jake seems keen on the lovely Ebony St James whilst Samantha decides to keep the fact that she is pregnant by Jake to herself. She decides to flee back to her father’s home and go it alone with her family’s help rather than face Jake with the news.
The characters of Samantha and Jake are well drawn to be complex interesting people with more than one dimension to their personalities. In the real world, of course people are torn by indecision and uncertainty and so it goes for these two.
There is an interesting sub-plot twist towards the end as it is revealed that Samantha has more connections to the men in her life than she realises.
Like all good love stories, the tale has a satisfying ending that leaves you with that feel-good feeling.
Ms Laird has forged ‘Forever Yours’ into a heart-warming tale about romance and relationships in the real world. I found the story to be well-paced and detailed enough to keep the pages turning eagerly. This is a good entertaining read and a brilliant book for anyone who doubts the power of true love.
