Perfection In Bloom

Snowflakes falling gently to green grass,

As I watch through patio door glass,

Large yet delicate in form,

I enjoy it though for March it is not the norm,

Daffodils poking through with bright yellow heads,

Flowering trees in bloom, I hope they won't be dead,

The combination is so beautiful, so unique,

As tiny purple crocus from white crystals peek,

Redbud blooms all cloaked in white,

Cling to the branches with all their might,

White pines wearing white robes,

While snowplow lights strobe,

A crystal palace my yard has become,

As I gaze with wonder at my purple leaf plum,

To think just a few days ago it was warm and sunny,

But then Kansas weather is often funny,

It was then that I went to pull last years dry weeds,

And shredded my hands and made them bleed,

Dry weeds became double edged swords I guess,

I sure made a fine mess,

Next time gloves I will wear,

When cleaning out my garden again I dare,

But for now in the bounty of nature I will bask,

While waiting for spring again to unmask.

***********************************************************************************************************

Ocean Whispers

Waves softly lapping the sandy beach,

Playing dulcet tones,

Toes reveling in the warmth of the sand,

We talked of living here,

Our house on the island,

Walking down the shore,

As always, I think of you,

Remembering how we fell in love,

On a day such as this,

You are in my thoughts,

Forever in my dreams,

I walk alone, waiting for your touch,

Are you thinking of me?

Are your nights full of sweet dreams?

I will keep you in my heart,

You are indelibly imprinted in my memory,

I am here...

Waiting for you.

*********************************************

Lighthouse

Gazing out into the starry night, for your touch I yearn,

Soft breezes caress my skin,

My eyes search for signs of your return,

I close my eyes and see your handsome grin,

I still hear you singing softly on my nape,

You are once, Twice, Three times a lady and I love you”,

Your love helps my heart life's worries escape,

I promise never to make you blue,

My love”, I whisper, hoping it will reach your ear,

I need you, hurry home to my arms”,

I want to feel you near,

I dream of all of your endearing charms,

Remember when you sailed away?

Hurry back to me” I whispered breathlessly,

I dream of you each night and look for you each day,

Loving you comes so effortlessly,

I will wait for you sweetheart of mine,

My lonely heart needs only you,

On my lighthouse deck I will watch the horizon line,

For my love is forever true.

I love, Because I Am

I love sunrise, because it begins a new day,

To live and love,

I love sunsets for the breathtaking views,

And that it means it is time to have sweet dreams,

I love the smell of a babies head,

And watching it sleep in its little bed,

I love watching an eagle soar,

Because it is doing what I would like to do,

I love watching butterflies flit from flower to flower,

Because they are so delicate and seem to float,

I love watching it rain,

Because it refreshes the earth and smells good,

I love the human touch,

To love and be loved,

I love flowers,

For each is beautiful and truly unique,

I love waterfalls,

For they are strikingly breathtaking,

I love mountains,

I am awestruck at their majesty,

I love my chocolate cappuccino,

Because it makes me feel warm and cozy,

I love walking barefoot in the sand,

Because I like to feel it between my toes,

I love watching it snow,

For it is beautiful, and I love it landing on my nose,

I love chasing fireflies and watching them blink,

Because it reminds me of childhood at grandma’s,

I love lilacs,

Because when I was 17 they were given me as a surprise gift by someone I didn’t even know,

I love satin, silk and lace,

Because it makes me feel beautiful,

I love watching the leaves in fall,

For their colors are so pretty,

I love running through leaves in fall,

Because stomping the bug eggs on them as kids was so much fun,

I love little kitten whiskers,

Because they tickle,

I love my children,

Because they were the best thing I ever did,

I love riding horses,

Because it is like flying and I love the wind in my hair,

I love listening to locusts in the evening,

It brings back memories of grandpa in his lawn chair smiling,

I love thunderstorms,

For their lightening, thunder and majesty,

I love romantic movies,

Because I am a hopeless romantic,

I love music,

Because it goes to my heart,

I love singing loudly when nobody can hear,

Because its fun,

I love poetry,

For it reveals what is in ones heart,

I love sleeping in,

Because early morning dreams are so wonderful,

I love seeing the first flowers of spring,

They give hope of warmth and rain,

I love reading a good book,

Because it takes me right into the story and far away,

I love elegant dinner parties,

I like dressing up,

I love collecting tea sets, teddy bears and musical carousels,

Just for fun,

I love giving gifts,

Because I like seeing the happiness it brings,

I love making things with my own hands,

For it is satisfying,

I love our creator for making me human,

So I can use my senses to enjoy his great gifts,

I love to love, because it is the greatest gift ever given,

I love…

because I am.

Sunrise Blooms

Gentle colors stealthily creep into the sky,

First light of day spears through the shadows,

Burning golden ball of intense glory rises,

Shimmering, lining the clouds with gold,

Light fluffy clouds dance across the sky,

Birds cheep and twitter,

Dew glistens on all creation,

Butterflies flutter happily through the air,

Earth awakens to a new day,

Gentle breezes carry fresh flowery scents,

Bees buzzing from flower to flower,

Blooms open their faces to the suns warming rays,

Our eyes see the glory…

As sunrise blooms.

Perspective

In a world of beauty and wonder,

Lives the human race,

From up above our home appears as a beautiful blue gem,

A diamond in the universe,

Lush green forests,

Sparkling blue rivers and oceans,

Pure white sandy beaches,

Tranquility as far as the eye reaches,

You cannot see the wars,

You cannot see the hungry,

There are no riots,

No one being abused or used,

There are no national debts,

No country borders,

You cannot see the disease,

Nor the pain and death,

We are all flesh and blood,

All mortal and delicate,

We tell our kids let mom or dad do it,

It’s too much for them,

But then we try to take on the world ourselves,

A double standard?

No matter what good intentions we have,

Time runs out, another steps into our place,

Some problems are just too big for us,

Some mistakes too long lasting,

Sometimes we need to have perspective,

No matter the title or position, we all are the same,

One big family of the human race,

All trying to have what we need…

Love,

Peace,

Shelter,

Food

&

Life itself.

If It's Over...

If its over, if time ran out,

I hope I used my life wisely,

Loving and living to the fullest,

To be remembered for a love of life,

Of being a good mother and wife,

Not only tears of sorrow,

But remembering the joy and happiness,

A room full to the brim with flowers,

With hugs, family and friends,

Thinking of what a beautiful ride it was,

Of a time when all are together again,

And death our heart will never again rend,

Waiting under that big shade tree,

Sunlight dappling over a garden of flowers.

Morning Sounds

Soft breezes whisper,

through white lace curtains,

touching my face like rose petals,

Birds twitter and cheep,

in the sweet honeysuckle,

outside my windows,

Sun dapples through lace,

onto my tranquil sleeping face,

as I hear morning sounds,

Soft rain gently tapping the windowpanes,

rocks me into sweet sleep,

the melody so sweet,

Hummingbirds with tiny wings fluttering,

join bees buzzing around lilacs,

it seems the nectar makes nice snacks,

Ice cracking and snapping as the sun rises,

on the miracle of a winters morn,

Crackling fireplace keeping me snug and warm,

Ah the sounds of morning,

are such sweet music,

I hear with my ears,

As well as,

with my heart.

Think Of Me

If ever something should take me from you,

Just remember how much you meant to me,

Smile and be happy, enjoy life like I want you to,

Remember how you made me laugh and feel so free.

Think of me as you see the flowers in bloom,

When you hear the birds sing,

And as soft rain falls on a Sunday afternoon,

Remember how I loved life and the joy it brings.

Think of me when the thunder crashes,

Think of its majesty, don’t be forlorn,

And when the lightening flashes,

Remember how much I loved a thunderstorm.

Think of me when you see the soft white snow,

When you see a rainbow in its spectrum of beauty,

Call to mind that I too loved that grand show,

You were so nice and down to earth, never snooty.

Think of me as the breeze blows over your skin,

Remember how I made you smile,

Think of me when you ride your horse now and then,

And when you see wildflowers in the country, mile after mile.

Living Every Day As If It Were Your Last

As creatures who are sentient,

for living forever, we have a penchant.

Knowing as we do that life passes so fast,

wisdom should prevail upon us to live as if it were our last.

Showing and telling loved ones how you feel,

sitting down together for a family meal.

Seeing the beauty and joy this life can hold,

watching our little ones in prayer, their hands fold.

Spending time helping our kids know what’s right,

having empathy for others, avoiding a fight.

Taking time to watch the sunrise and sunset,

would top our list if it was the last chance we would get.

Watching our little ones laugh and play,

being thankful for each and every day.

The things we would do and try,

if our life was soon to pass us by.

Thankfully, most of us get to have a long time,

and are able to enjoy living long past our prime.

Living as if it were our last day here on earth,

enjoy life; simple things will give us mirth.

*****************************************************************************************************

The First Day

This day is special, very unique,

It has never been before, will never come again,

It is your best day, so to speak,

For the rest of your life will now begin.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life,

What will you do with it, enjoy it with zeal,

Or will you make big mistakes and fill it with strife,

Every day is important, a big deal.

You are blessed, with a gift of another day,

One more day to see the beauty and wonder,

To feel the breeze, the sun on your skin, to work and play,

Don’t let depression and worry drag you under.

Never give up your hopes and dreams,

Letting go of innocence is a mistake,

Don’t let yourself be pulled into harmful schemes,

For enjoying simple things, time to always make.

Living each day as if it were our last,

Loving with all we have in our heart,

Not worrying about the past,

But in planning our amazing future, to take part.

Yes, today is the first day of the rest of your life,

Fill it with all the love and joy you can find,

Smell the fresh air, feel the sun, enjoy watching wildlife,

Show your loved ones how you feel, relax and unwind.

***********************************************************************************************

Inspiration

Because you are in this world, it is a better place,

Rainbows are more beautiful, everything is fresh and shiny,

As the rain stops and the sun shines bright on my face,

Dreams are sweeter, days are sunny.

In the beautiful night sky I see,

Stars spanning the heavens,

All I can think of is dancing under them with you,

Laughing with you from sheer joy.

In your embrace, I am home,

Very happy, is how you make me feel,

In this world, you are one of a kind,

Not ordinary, one of the good guys.

Green is the grass under our feet,

Dainty fingers run through your hair,

Rain falling softly as we walk,

Everything about you, is what I love.

And you are what inspires me,

Memories of you will forever stay in my heart.

****************************************

Fall

Cool sunny days, cold nights,

Leaves of golden slowing falling,

Beautiful trees, many colors, breathtaking sights,

The cold winter season is calling.

Blankets and quilts pulled out of storage,

Find your coats, scarves and mittens,

As the animals outside for extra food forage,

Find a place inside for the kittens.

Cold rain wetting the dry ground,

Spread the mulch, make it thick,

Plant the flower bulbs in mound after mound,

Unhook the water hoses quick.

Time for a warm crackling fire,

And cookies and hot chocolate on the table,

In front of the fire, gazing into your eyes, I will never tire,

At the kids’ bedside, let’s read a happy fable.

Let’s slip away to our romantic space,

With a blanket, strawberries and champagne,

The light of the fire will glow on our face,

As on the window we hear the soft rain.

Fall cleaning makes everything fresh and cozy,

We stock the pantry and settle in for the cold,

And air out the house to make our life rosy,

With you in my life, I will never get old.

She Dreams Of…

She dreams of a man, who has a spirit of kindness,

He would be her only love, she would be his only lady,

This man knows how to love a woman with gentleness,

One who would never treat her cruel or shady.

She dreams of a lover to hold as he falls asleep,

Of a man filled with passion and lust,

He would know how to caress her, and love so deep,

Of his love being true, she could always trust.

She dreams of one to share her dreams and life,

One who she could cherish and honor,

And she longs to be his lover and wife,

He would never be harsh or her dishonor.

She dreams of a man, who would bring her pleasure,

One who would treat her as he does himself,

He would feel like she was like a priceless treasure,

Not making her sit quietly as if on a shelf.

She dreams of a man who is handsome and nice,

He has a disposition that is bright and sunny,

A man who doesn’t have any harmful vice,

One who is charming and funny.

She dreams of one not afraid to make a fool of himself for her,

Making her laugh would make his day,

For his heart, she does stir,

Together they could work and play.

She dreams of a man that gives his love to her so freely,

Showing his love no matter where they are,

One who thinks she is beautiful, mind, body and soul, truly,

Bestowing kisses on her, even in the car.

She dreams of a love, a lifetime to last,

Deeply loving in passions sweet embrace,

Of falling in love so completely and fast,

She watches the rapture on his strong face.

Fantasies

Fantasies, our imagination brings clearly to mind,

A need to escape, to let it run wild,

Some tropical beach far away to unwind,

Running barefoot, free like a child.

Hand in hand with your beautiful lover,

Sun kissed skin, glistening in island heat,

The wonderful real you, I soon discover,

Laughing, loving in a quiet, deserted retreat.

Hammocks between the tall palm trees,

Our eyes sweep over the breathtaking view,

As we feel the soft tropical breeze,

The only ones in the universe are just we two.

Can this be real, is it just dreams,

Are we really in this sweet bliss,

For so very real it all seems,

Gazing into each others eyes, we softly kiss.

Riding horses on the waters edge,

Enjoying this peaceful repose,

Life’s troubles, worries, up we refuse to dredge,

The waves wash away from shore, seashells to expose.

Your guitar in hand, a love song for me you compose,

Singing of a love so pure and true,

And of touches, as gentle and soft as the petals of a rose,

My love, by your caresses, I’ll take my cue.

Wrapping me safely in your strong arms to music we sway,

I hold you close to my heart,

Your love, I will never betray,

Forever in this paradise we will stay.

***************************************

He Dreams Of...

He dreams of a gentle woman with which to share his life,

Someone to love, honor and cherish,

She would be his lover, friend and wife,

A love of a lifetime, never to perish.

He dreams of a lady, who would respond to his gentle touch,

Giving him passion and a love so deep,

She would be soft and curvy; she would love him very much,

With her, he every night would sleep.

He dreams of one with which he could share his hopes and dreams,

She would laugh at his jokes,

Help him to realize his fantasy schemes,

And she would love his folks.

He dreams of a sweet smelling lover to hold in the night,

A soft spoken voice to talk to,

One who could calm his soul if he woke in a fright,

He would never again be blue.

He dreams of a love so true and pure,

One to join him to eat his meals,

A heart of which he could be sure,

A beauty in jeans and a t-shirt or a dress and high heels.

He dreams of her bringing wonder to his days,

Of someone that he could share his hobbies and stuff,

To amaze and delight him with her sweet ways,

Smoothing out the parts of him that are rough.

He dreams of being forever passionately in love,

Of one dressed in silk, satin and lace,

The only one he needs, the only one he would think of,

He searches for her, one beautiful in mind, body and face.

***************************************

Fantasy Women

His fantasy is a soft and innocent girl next door,

And a model with passion like waves crashing to the shore.

A man wants a woman with heated desire,

Who becomes wild like the flames of a fire.

At times he would like a red headed siren,

Or a romantic one who likes poetry, like Byron.

He likes her to be super woman, multi tasking,

And a mother to his babies, in her love basking.

He revels in a delicate beauty like Kreimhilde,

After working to win her heart, she finally would yield.

A Cleopatra he wouldn’t turn away,

Or conquering a warrior queen, as was Boadicea, in her day.

Lady In Red would fill his arms in a dance,

His dreams every night she will enhance.

He dreams of her in satin, lace and silk, all night she will tease,

Such pleasure he will bring her, with ease.

He delights to see the smudge of dirt on her nose,

And how she sighs, when over her skin he trails a velvety red rose.

His fantasy woman bounces to extremes,

Fantasies vary daily, or so it seems.

She is a petite French maid with a feather duster,

 to clean your room,

Or a sweet one in jeans, t- shirt and ponytail,

making flowers bloom.

Wonder woman was once his fantasy,

Now he wants her to be a cowgirl driving him to ecstasy.

Someone soft and sweetly scented to hold through the night,

All he wants, he desires, is her, she is his world, his delight.
