on Bible Enlightened: Religions and Yoga |

Amazing!, December 19, 2003

Reviewer: A reader from Texas, USA | Besides thoroughly analyzing the Bible (Old and New Testaments) in connection to other Scriptures pertaining to Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism and other religions, as well as esoteric doctrines such as Kabbalah, Sufism, Hesychasm aiming at discovering their deep, hidden essence, the author resorted to a wealth of documentary sources. However, beyond the inherent historical approaches, the work, is focused upon phenomenology with the aim of highlighting the common ground shared by the great religions and yoga spirituality.

| In this day, Western seekers are interested in what the East has to offer in the realm of spirituality. This book can be a bridge between East and West, a signpost leading the seekers towards the essential synthesis they are looking for. |

The Bible Enlightened from Dan Costian is truly a feat of dedicated scholarship but it does not burden the reader with the heaviness that is often associated with scholarly writtings. This is because the author feels deeply for his subject and provides fascinating insight into the basic unity that underlines the otherwise baffling diversity of religious traditions and spiritual practices. This book is a must for thise who wish Christianity to be an opened and living religion |

Inner light on the Bible, April 27, 2004

If the wealth of references looks at first glance somehow too heteroclite, you keep being impressed by the knowledge and steady investigation of the author. Whether you share or not the general perspective, his journey through biblical symbolism and historical hypotheses will not only become a lasting inspiration, but also an opportunity to rediscover the Jewish and Christian sacred texts with a wider spiritual approach.

Maria. Sandery. Sth Australia, A reviewer, September 3, 2004, An Interesting & Inspiring Read The words of this book inspire, inform and empower. They are the words of which anyone committed to true inner human freedom would be proud. This book contains an awesome reality picture - an insight into the underlying depth that unifies religions, spiritual traditions and yoga. The author takes us on an interesting and powerful journey that illustrates the commonalities of religious traditions, both Eastern and Western, Yoga and Jungian depth psychology. This great work enlightens one's consciousness to a new level of spiritual awareness.

A Wider Perspective on Bible, September 20, 2004
In our culture the holy scriptures (i.e. Bible) are most often a "take it or leave it" kind of matter. On one side of the spectrum are the "fundamentalists" who want believe everything literally that is written in Bible. The other extreme is exclusively scientific and/or sceptical view to the scriptures. This book manages to transcend this antagonism. It reads Bible in the light other spiritual traditions and with eyes opened in personal spiritual awakening. Therefore finds deep message in Bible. This is the main point a liked it. It's thick book which is both challenging and rewarding experience. For more deatils I think you should read it.

a must read, October 9, 2004
The meaning of the word's religion and yoga are surprising similar, religion is from the Latin, re - ligare, ligare meaning to connect in the sense of tying up (the English word ligature comes from this source). Yoga means union in the sense of connecting together, (the English word yoke, coming from this root).
Dan Costian has written a brilliant work in which he looks how Eastern and Western views of religion complement rather than compete with each other.
The book is structured in two volumes, the first one dealing mostly with the Old Testament, while the second volume is devoted mainly to the Divine Son and the Divine Mother.
The author analyzes the Bible (Old and New Testaments) and compares it to scriptures from Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism and other religions, as well as esoteric doctrines such as Kabbalah, Sufism, Hesychasm with a view to discovering their deep, hidden essences.
The author uses his scietnific background to bring together knowledge from science (mathematics, physics, astronomy, anatomy and physiology and other scientific resources), as well as historical facts, geographical surveys, results of archaeological findings, mythology, art history, analysis of folklore and ancient traditions, comparative linguistics especially of ancient languages.
A hugely impressive work.

Bible Enlightened. Very Well researched. Easy to read, October 21, 2004
I read the Bible Enlightened some years ago and I am just dipping into it again. I thought that it was absolutely fascinating; it was extremely well researched. The more I read it, the more I thought how thorough the author Dan Costian had been in his approach. Excellent book, I would recommend it to everyone, especially those living in Palestine and Israel, maybe they could stop fighting.
