WELCOME!
POEM OF THE WEEK! "Ah Spring!"
"Ah Spring!," by Charmane Rae Kelley
Ah Spring!
Nature gradually releases it’s
freezing hold; Frozen waters
again flow; into lazy pools
by rivers; Warm;
March trickles in;
Time to tap the saplings,
and fire the hearth;
Sugar season is in;
A maple extravaganza!
Simmering…
In April, the birds
chirp again!
Then, May awakens!
Swiftly unthawing into
complete heaven by June;
Lilacs quench their winter thirst;
Their sweetness, healing;
Ah Spring!
I always try to focus on a theme when I update my site, and I can't think of a more important one that the War in Iraq to touch on from time to time. I wrote the poem below, "Soul at War," a while ago. -I'm going to keep up "Soul at War," for a little while longer-through this summer to show support for our troops in Iraq. May God Be With Them All-I will send a poem to any soldier in Iraq by e-mail upon request. If a soldier you know loves poetry and you think it would help lift his spirits, I will e-mail him a poem -e-mail me his Name and e-mail address to rayefin@vtlink.net.I will enclose a special pdf cover as a gift certificate from you as the first page. This is close to an e-card format, but I design it myself-For samples, send me an e-mail.-Charmane Rae Kelley
“Soul at War,” by Charmane Rae Kelley
Your eyes look barren
like a dry, lifeless desert;
Baking in the sun;
Changing their color
to grey, like stone;
Your soul no longer
waits behind them;
keeping the rest
of your body warm;
it left long ago,
when to you came harm;
Drifting away, captured
by the devil's charm;
Soothed by only
his evil arm;
Not resting in peace
just raging, on and on;
Returning calm;
only when the heart's
forgiveness warms;
from the laying down
of arms.
I truly hope the War in Iraq will end soon so no more lives are lost on either side. In a country where a war is going on, there is far too much sadness and suffering of innocent people whether they are the enemy, or the families of our own soldiers. We have to get out, or help peace along before it is all destroyed. There must be a way. -Charmane Rae Kelley
