.Greetings to all,
When daylight savings time ends; the saying is "fall back." Now that's daylight savings time has started, the saying is "spring forward." This phrase can mean a lot of different things for different people. Spring has always been a time of reflection for me. It's a time for me to begin again, so to speak. In the seasons of fall, winter, and summer there were some things I did not have time to accomplish or I chose not to accomplish, or I received a nudge in my spirit that said, "wait, this is not the time. Now that spring has arrived, I can spring forward into action and start over.
Are there some things in your own life where you can start over too? This is the season for planting and seeing the buds of those plants spring forth.
Just recently the Lord gently chastened me concerning my writing. When I entered the Ministerial Training School in August 2005, I made the school my primary focus, and put my writing secondary. Secondary is not the best choice of words here, because I actally put my writing "on the back burner." Except for a few small projects and my bimonthly column, my writing had ceased.
Watching my dog Maxx go through his daily routine when I let him inside the house taught me an invaluable lesson. Out of it, the Lord spoke to my spirit, "Keep focus until you reach your final destination." Immediately I put pen to paper and wrote a devotional from the anology. He let me know that He did not tell me to stop writing; I did that on my own choosing. Would you stop for a moment and take an inventory of what you are doing. Are you writing because you are led by the Spirit of God; or are you writing for dollars and cents? Selah
Commit our writing to the Lord creates limitless opportunites for the Lord to open doors for us. I always say, "The ministry is His; I am His pen." As an act obedience, I will continue to write as He leads. And, as He opens the doors, I will walk through them. If you have not done so, recommit your writing to the Lord; write as an act of obedience, and watch Him take your writing to new heights.

Column: Nuggets for Personal Journaling "Spring Forward" The Spirit Led Writer (March 2007) |
|
As writers, we are always looking for fresh and innovation ways of honing our writing, speaking, and publishing skills. A new season brings about change. I often heard people say, "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting to get different results." Change is a process. It takes time for changes to occur. Martin Luther said, "If you want to change the world, pick up your pen."
