A.M. Baker-Engel has carried her ideas for this first book for 29 years, jotting pieces of the story down off and on through the years. The last 10 years she really got serious about her writing and finished the saga of her main character, The Chosen, in 4 manuscripts.
The first of her books, Unique Phenomenon: The First Story of The Chosen, is now in print. Her writing is fast paced, keeps the reader wanting to turn the page to find out what happens next.
A.M. Baker-Engel has always loved Science Fiction and history, her book is a twining of both. It took her years of research and ancient map reading to fit it all together with her story ideas and the drawings in her book are her own. "I must be honest through," the author said about her writings of Science Fiction based on historical fact, "after the umteenth editing my characters started to write their own words and form their own personalities and it all fell into place. There were places, as I wrote, that brought me to tears and some that made me laugh. My characters got me so involved I could not stop writing until I ended with not one but, four manuscripts and many fascinating creatures. I had a friend read my first manuscript and she said she could not put it down, I was so gratified and knew I finally had it right, a book people would enjoy. I can’t wait to have the next 3 books of my saga of The Chosen to hit the presses! Also, after just a short correspondence with Stephen King I became insistent I would complete and publish my writings and here I am with my own book. Thank you Mr. King, you have helped me far more then you know."
Synopsis of Unique Phenomenon : The First Story of The Chosen:
Due to her inherited ‘gifts’, Agyenyeska is required to go on Search for lost knowledge of the Star Lords. This Search takes her to three countries and pits her gifts and abilities against many odds. While on Search her father is kidnaped, to be used to force her to give up the knowledge she has gained on Search. Put through many trials and much heartache, she, Agyenyeska, The Chosen, must confront her enemy and make a decision that will effect the whole world.

A.M. Baker-Engel was born in Seattle, Washington, raised in Grass Valley, California and is now retired in Pennsylvania. She spent 35 years managing and supervising in electronics and dabbles in oil and pastel painting and yard landscaping. Lives with her husband, their two dogs Shadrac and Mugzee and enjoys the Koi pond she made. She is an avid reader and loves the summer above all seasons. |
