Title: Wait, Beloved, for Darkness's Gift by Letha C. Chamberlain
Poetry of love and praise to God coming out of affliction and agony to Resurrection. We are all blessed- and we are entitled to blissfulness- God's wish for us no matter what life hands us. And, yes, we are expected to give each other goodness, too. But we do not experience this blissfulness often. Have we looked for it in actuality? Do we know where to look for it? "Ask, and you shall receive. Seek and you will find. Knock and the door will be opened unto you." You will find a cross, yes- "Take up your cross and follow me." But heaven's doors ARE then opened to you- and often right here on planet Earth!
A person living a life of agony and affliction- opens her arms- and receives abundance! Now a solitary contemplative living a life of prayer dedicated to the good of her fellow humankind opens her heart to all those who have experienced "darkness" in all forms.
I have a wish... that my life be able to add something not there before- or to facilitate a "happening". But each person's journey is so special no other person's "light" must ever extinguish another's sacred spark... so if this poetry is found "intrusive" it should be "put away for another day."
MY path is "mystical"-- but you may find some "practicality" involved in reading my words-- for helpful "hints" can come from them...
But there must not be fear in the sacred journey about companionship, either... the "call" comes to some of us honestly from others who seek us out... and from God... in this we must listen earnestly and respond. So I have tried to do so...
This book of poetry is in three parts. The first part is the entire Psalmody rewritten from the New Jerusalem Translation of the Holy Bible in haiku format (especially good for memory work by those wanting a way to commit them to memory.) Of course, the Psalms are instructive in helping us deal with nearly every emotion humankind can have... The second part contains fifty-seven brief meditations "On the Occasions of Your Life"- the celebrations, crises, and ordinary events in the lives of ordinary persons to deepen the walk with God... The third part contains, for the most part, love poetry to God... but also scripturally-based poetry that comments on everyday life and love with the emphasis on coping with darknesses and afflictions...
