A Victorian Tea, Garden Party, and Book-signing took place at the home of Lady Marianne Bodie of Lake Gage, IN.  Hostesses for the festive event were Mrs. Mandy Williams, Mrs. Jennifer Tritch, and Mrs. Erin Weilein.  Approximately 45 elegantly-attired ladies joined in the celebration.  Recently-published author Sarah Thomas mingled among the guests, autographed copies of her sure-to-be best-seller, sipped iced tea (it was 95 degrees!) and sampled dainty cucumber sandwiches, fresh strawberries on pound cake, and mini-eclaires.  Parasols, lavishly embellished hats, gloves, fans, tulle, and ribbons could be seen everywhere.  One was overheard to say, "It's like a wedding with no MEN!" and all agreed it was truly a spectacular celebration!

HUDSON - An area woman's book is about to be published.
PublishAmerica is publishing "A Heart Divided" by Sarah Crandell Thomas of Hudson, the Executive Director of the Noble County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Set in 1891, "A Heart Divided" explores a woman's sense of adventure, deeply entangeled emotions, and her struggle to make the right choices.
"It is a story of American history, of spiritual battles as old as the Garden of Eden, and a reflection of a very different time in the traditional roles of women," a press release said.
Mary, the author's great grandmother, challenged those traditions, followed the lure of travel, and pushed the limits until she was able to reconcile all the pieces of a heart divided.
Thomas, a Maryland native, has worked in the travel industry as a special event planner.  She lives with her husband, Marty, and two cats in rural Hudson.

PublishAmerica Presents A Heart Divided by Sarah Crandell Thomas

(PublishAmerica) April 18, 2006 -- PublishAmerica is proud to announce that it has acquired the publishing rights to Sarah Crandell Thomas’s A Heart Divided, the captivatingly romantic tale of Mary, a woman who, frustrated with her difficult marriage, leaves her husband George to travel from Maryland to California with her Aunt Emily.  In Hays, KS they are joined by the other man in Mary's life, her beloved cousin Fred.  Venture with Mary as she contemplates her deeply entangled heart, reevaluates what's really important, and is forced to make life-altering decisions for herself and those she loves.  Set in 1891, A Heart Divided includes transcription of the 47 actual letters written by the author's great-grandmother Mary to George during this three-month period of compelling and heart-wrenching introspection.

Sarah Crandell Thomas is a Chesapeake Bay Waterman's daughter who was raised on an isolated peninsula in a tiny Southern Maryland village.  Surrounded by nature and solitude, she developed an eye for detail and a unique sensitivity which is reflected in her style of writing.  She has enjoyed rewarding careers in travel and tourism and as a corporate event planner, and lives contentedly with her husband and two cats in the Indiana countryside.

While her great-grandmother's letters from 1891 set the stage for her first book, A Heart Divided, plans for her second book (tentatively titled Reflection on Uncharted Waters) will be based on her perspective as the youngest daughter of a Waterman and the legacy of that special heritage.
