The Insanity Behind Weapons of Mass Destruction
All the weapons of war are deplorable. First, let me bring that fact to light for this cruel world, war should be absolutely the last resort. I would think that, in a world that has seen as much war as it has seen, we would all want to be pacifists by now. If war is an option then something is wrong with the peace negotiation process. War should be the only way out of a terrifying situation. That being said the reason for this essay is to ask the question: why would anyone want to own and brandish weapons of mass destruction?
Is the answer as simple as they want to kill a lot of people, disrupt their infrastructure, create fear, intimatation, and commit genocide? That is the reason for this type of weapon. Are those not the horrific reasons for the development of those nightmares of our modern age? To contemplate inflicting that magnitude of pain, suffering, and destruction on your fellow human beings is pure and simply insane thinking. Nothing about these weapons is productive except for the employment of a few engineers and technicians; nothing about WMD's is good for the world.
Companies that have weapons research divisions should seriously consider their role in the potential destruction of our society by creating and manufacturing these monstrous killing machine components. Isn't it bad enough, the fact that we already have enough weapons of every shape and size for individuals to use for their own reasons, that we have to build weapons that will eliminate whole cities and destroy those people who live there? And, if we want to speak of the military; they have so much firepower that the conventional weaponry alone would damage the earth for generations to come if they were to be used on a large scale. Atomic bombs seem like decorations on the cake of war. These things are redundant and unproductive.
Is this our business; to have the biggest arsenal of weapons and to sell those weapons to those who have the dollars to purchase them? In some cases, we don’t even sell the weapons; we supply them to our allies and countries with whom we have special deals. We help militarily countries like Israel, for example. Are we, as a people, wise enough to know who should have these weapons and who should be kept away from war's dangerous devices?
When speaking of dangerous and insane behavior, one man comes to mind, who lately has rattled more sabers than any man in recent history. Of course, I am speaking of Mr. Kim Jung Il the apparent leader of North Korea. What would possess this man to detonate an atomic device anywhere? His use of underground testing for his bombs shows the world how unstable he is in his thinking. As I have said in the past about Mr. Kim Jung Il, he is not a mentally healthy man (my opinion). This great waste of resources and international prestige again leads us to observe Mr. Kim Jung Il as he tries to impress the world with his own personal brand of foolishness. I have a great amount of respect for the Asian peoples as a whole and have been impressed by their wisdom and honorable behavior, which they have given to the world. I believe that if Mr. Kim Jung Il would search his heart he would find the true answer to his people's future. The spirit of goodness and wisdom is waiting to find Mr. Kim Jung Il.
If history could talk of the countless number, who have died as a result of war and the various attempts humans have employed to destroy one another it would tell of how throughout history we have tried to destroy as many of our enemies as possible. Bigger and better ways of killing our neighbors has actually become a major business, with sales, maintenance, R & D, listings on the Stock Exchange and all the trappings of any legitimate business. Truth is; these items of war are always going to be around because we are very afraid of one another; we are hopelessly scared of our neighbors. In addition, let's not forget that these weapons bring a pretty penny on the black and white markets.
Every one of the major powers had an atomic bomb at one time then they escalated this into an arms race and it became a standoff; détente was born. It seemed as though all the sane governments and world leaders with good sense controlled these weapons of mass destruction, many safe guards were and are in place.
Today with the growth and development of super electronics, the black market, and sheer hateful determination, the insane fanatics and righteously angry are acquiring the skills and materials to create these WMD's. It shouldn’t be long before some of them are able to deliver and detonate their destructive weapons. This must never happen; the psychologically unstable must never be allowed to possess these weapons. Governments, whose dedication is towards the genocidal destruction of its neighbors, should be prevented from creating, purchasing, or working with these WMD's and their shadow technologies (Nuclear power plants, etc,)
Weapons of Mass Destruction represent senseless and meaningless thinking that is downright against all the tenets of good reason. An inhuman and almost godlike responsibility comes with the possession and use of these weapons and their associated hardware. Even the United States, with its vast arsenal of WMD's, must understand the grave responsibility that comes with the ownership of these useless articles of destruction. Still we have them ready to go on a moments notice. America, the greatest country in the world is held hostage by its own Atomic Bombs. How do you get everyone on the planet to give up their WMD'S? Let's start there, with the atomic weapons, and then we can work on eliminating the other kinds of destructive devices afterwards. How can we end this era of hatred and mistrust? What is the secret ingredient for the finding of peace in our world?
Every emerging country wants these weapons so they have the power to hold their neighbors hostage, to create an air of mistrust and fear and of course, to foster more hatred in the world. There couldn’t be more trouble in the world if we tried; still we bring this kind of misery into everyone's lives. Obviously, this way of thinking is insane thinking (out of the bounds of good logic and reason, not healthy thinking for the good of the world), that kind of insanity. I am talking about that which hurts us all.
Finally, I would like to say one last thing; eventually the bomb will discover its own true nature and detonate. Therefore, if you want to own these kinds of weapons be careful you don’t blow off your own fingers first.
