Rhonda Richmond takes us on an illuminating journey in her new book, Jounal by the Bedside.  Rhonda (a Colorado native) was raised by her grandmother (with many siblings and cousins—at times seeing up to 15 people living in her grandmother’s home) in a small house in the inner city. Rhonda displayed her anger about not having her parents around through fighting—until she met up with a teacher in the 4th grade who taught her that she had an aptitude for using poetry to speak about her emotions. Life did not become magically better, but Rhonda began using her poetry to speak about the pain of her relationship with her parents, rape, spousal abuse, religion, and much more. This is Rhonda’s poetic biography and personal victory.

...This book is not an easy read but it is full of courage, hope and wisdom.
