Denise's Pieces
Rebecca Collins is deeply in love with Ryan Dory and she knows he is going to ask her to marry him. Good news? Perhaps it would be, if it were not for the curse that was put on her family by a Sioux Medicine Man a century ago. Now if she marries Ryan, he will die.
How could Rebecca ever explain this to Ryan and tell him the only way to break the curse is to travel back in time? With this the story begins.
"Phantom Faces," I found, was a great read. I have read many romance novels and mysteries that tend to travel along the same roads, but this work added surprise elements which made it very enjoyable.
Why was a curse put on the family?
How were they going to travel back in time? And would they be able to break the curse and return?
All those were enough in themselves to make an interesting read, but the author added a surprise curve to the read that I thought was great. Ryan becomes romantically involved with another woman while in the past and the reader is wondering if he will chose to remain there with her. Has Rebecca lost everything by trying to right a wrong? Could she ever forgive Ryan for betraying her love? Nice surprise twist.
"Phantom Faces" is a mixture of many elements that make-up a great read. Mystery, supernatural and romance all woven into one. Well done Ms. Amen, I believe you have a winner.

In Melissa Amen’s novel, Phantom Faces, she tells the touching story of Rebecca Collins and her fiancée Ryan Jefferson, a young couple who must break a hundred year old curse in order to get married.
They’re journey takes them back to 1875 when the curse was cast. A curse that haunts the Collins family for generations. They must do everything in their power to keep the curse from being cast, or else Rebecca and Ryan’s marriage will be set to face the same fate as those before them.
Phantom Faces is filled with mystery and suspense. And you’ll be eager to keep turning the pages of this steamy mystery to see if Rebecca and Ryan are able to do what no one else has been able to do.
It is my opinion that Melissa Amen has written a story filled with intrigue and mystery. I recommend Phantom Faces to anyone who is looking to journey back in time for a thrill ride of a mystery. Keep your eye out for future books by this very talented author.

Rebecca Collins is in love with Ryan Dory in 2003; they are planning their wedding. However, over a century before their scheduled wedding date, a Sioux Medicine Man had placed a curse on Rebecca's family. Rebecca knows that if she and Ryan marry, Ryan could die within a short time because of this curse.
Could you marry a man if you knew he might die simply because you married him? Would you love him enough to let him go and cancel your plans? If you could change the past – would you dare?
In “Phantom Faces”, Melissa Amen has created a fascinating story around these heartbreaking questions.
Rebecca bravely decides to use Indian magic to attempt to go back in time to reverse the curse and be able to marry the man she loves. Travel back with Rebecca as she visits the past, with the help of her sister and her finance, and tries to alter the future.
Read “Phantom Faces” and find out if Rebecca and Ryan’s love is strong enough to overcome the ancient curse of the Sioux Medicine Man. An interesting book that has several unexpected twists and turns before a reader turns the last page. Recommended reading for any one.

In Melissa Amen's book, Phantom Faces, she weaves a mystical story of love that transcends time. What would you do for the one you love? That's the story that Amen's book addresses. Rebecca is a descendent of Gregory, a white man, and an Indian woman named Little Deer. Unfortunately, Little Deer's father places a curse on the couple: curse that will be handed down from generation to generation for their descendents. A curse that's bound to take the life of her future husband, Ryan, eventually.
With the help of family and friends, Rebecca and Ryan travel back in time to break the curse. The question is will they succeed in breaking the curse, or, will they themselves become victims of the curse, just as all those before them.
Phantom Faces is a very intriguing pager-turner that will keep you on the edge of you seat. If you like the idea of taking a thrill-ride across time then this is the book for you. A love story that isn't bound by time or space. A recommended must read!
